Christmas at the Publick House Historic Inn
Sturbridge, MA - The holiday season is a special time of year at the Publick House. To capture the spirit of Christmas in New England, we decorate the Inn with wreaths of holly; a 10-foot Gingerbread House, fragrant Christmas trees and hundreds of tiny lights silhouette the 230-year-old Inn. While roaring fires in our open-hearth fireplaces warm our cozy dining rooms, guests settle in to celebrate this very special time of year.
2004 Events:
Gingerbread House
December 3 – January 1 - For the
26th consecutive year, the culinary staff at the Publick House
Historic Inn will create their 10-foot Gingerbread House for holiday guests to
enjoy.
Holiday
Ball
December 4
- It has always been tradition for friends and
families from around the country to gather at the Publick House to begin their
holiday celebration. Join us this year for our first Holiday Ball. Dance the
night away while a DJ plays your favorite Christmas carols. You will feast on a
delectable winter buffet, filled with Publick House favorites. $40 per person,
plus tax and gratuities. Please call for reservations.
Breakfast with Santa
December 4, 5, 11 and 12 -
Santa Claus is coming to town; and he’ll be at
the Publick House Historic Inn for breakfast, starting at 8:30am. Watch the
magic come alive through a child’s eye and feast on a hearty Yankee breakfast
buffet. Each child is welcome to sit on Santa’s lap and will leave with a small
gift. Bring your cameras or camcorders to capture the perfect picture. Adults
are $16.95, Children 3-12 are $9.95, and children three and under are
complimentary. Price does not include tax and gratuities. Reservations are
required.
Gingerbread Celebration
December 4 – 5 - Gingerbread
creativity at its best. Sponsored by the Tri-Area Chamber of Commerce.
Big Little Party
December 9 - Bring
your SMALL group to a BIG holiday party! You are your guests are cordially
invited to a Publick House holiday gathering. Join other small groups for an
evening of fun and festivities. We provide the bountiful buffet, music and
dancing – all you have to do is make the reservation. $35 per person, plus tax
and gratuities. Reservations can be made by calling the Publick House at
1-800-PUBLICK, ext. 286.
Live
Nativity
December 10 - Join the
Town of Sturbridge and the Publick House in a Live Nativity scene on Old
Sturbridge Commons.
Co-op Holiday Lunch
December 10 - Planning a Christmas luncheon at the office?
Join other companies for one BIG party. A local choir will entertain you with
holiday classics while you dine. For reservations, please call 1-800-PUBLICK,
ext. 400.
Twelve Days of Christmas
December 21 –
January 1 -
We celebrate the 12-Days of
Christmas every evening during dinner. Our festive dinner menu features a
nightly special. Carolers stroll throughout the Inn spreading cheer and
merriment.

December 24 - Dinner will be served from 4pm – 7:30pm, with a
wonderfully special selection of entrees.

December 25 - Join us for breakfast or dinner buffet and celebrate
the holiday with your Publick House family.
New Year's Day
January 1 - Start the New Year with a hearty New England brunch from
8am – 2:30pm. This special buffet of your Publick House favorites is $24.95,
per person, plus tax & gratuities. Children 3-12, $9.95, plus tax & gratuities.
Enjoy the warmth of Ebenezer’s Tavern where a big screen TV will be showing New Year’s Day football games
Yankee Winter Weekends
January – February 2005 -
Escape the hurried pace of the 21st century and step back in time.
Your weekend begins the minute you enter our door with roaring fires, steaming
clam chowder, syllabub, roasted chestnuts, hot mulled cider, strolling
minstrels, and more. Tour Old Sturbridge Village. Enjoy discounts at local
shops. Spend time with your family at an old-fashioned Game Night. Join us
this winter and bask in the warmth of Yankee hospitality at its finest.

Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the Publick House was established in 1771 by Colonel Ebenezer Crafts who led the local militia against the British during the Revolutionary Wars. A continuing program of preservation and renovation now means that the Publick House retains its colonial atmosphere while offering contemporary conveniences.
