10 FOOT GINGERBREAD HOUSE ON DISPLAY AT THE
PUBLICK HOUSE HISTORIC INN

Sturbridge, MA – For the 26th consecutive year, the culinary staff at the Publick House Historic Inn will create their 10-foot Gingerbread House for holiday guests to enjoy.  The house takes over 12 hours to assemble.  To construct the house, the staff uses 2,000 egg whites, 700 pounds of sugar, one pound of cream of tartar, 2,000 sugar cookies and 150 pieces of gingerbread.

During the month of December thousands of visitors admire the house that is on display in the “Barn” section of the Inn.  Local children’s groups are also invited to schedule complimentary daily tours to learn the history of the house and the Inn, sing Christmas carols and of course, enjoy some of the famous Publick House Christmas cookies made on site in the Bake Shoppe.

The month of December also features a variety of holiday events, such as a traditional Yule Log Celebration, a Christmas Co-op Luncheon, Breakfast with Santa, 12-days of Christmas Dinner Specials, as well as a festive Christmas Dinner and New Year’s Eve menu.  Additional information regarding these events may be found at www.publickhouse.com or by calling 1-800-PUBLICK.

Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, the Publick House was established in 1771 by Colonel Ebenezer Crafts who led the local militia against the British during the Revolutionary Wars.  A continuing program of preservation and renovation now means that the Publick House retains its colonial atmosphere while offering contemporary conveniences.
