PUBLICK HOUSE HISTORIC INN WELCOMES NEW CHEF

Sturbridge, MA - The Publick House Historic Inn welcomes Dominic Geraghty as the new Executive Chef, starting April 5, 2004.  Chef Geraghty joins us from, most recently, the Amaya Restaurant, the premier restaurant of the Hotel Santa Fe in New Mexico.

“I'm thrilled to be able to have Dominic working for us at the Publick House.  Since Dominic and I have worked together in two other prestigious hotels, I know the quality of his work and the enthusiasm he brings with him.  Dominic is both creative and respectful of tradition -- this is a rare combination and one that will serve the guests of the Publick House well."  Juli Lederhaus, General Manager, Hawthorne Hotel, Salem, MA and Acting Innkeeper, Publick House.

Born in Halifax, Yorkshire, Great Britain, Dominic trained in Cooks College and apprenticed in a restaurant situated in a house built in 1660.  Dominic was a semi-professional soccer goalie and climbed the Himalayas in his twenties; but eventually cooked his way to America, working in Alaska, South Carolina, Palm Springs, and Santa Fe.   In Santa Fe, Dominic and his wife, Meryle also owned and operated Four and Twenty Blackbirds, an Old Santa Fe Trail combination pie shop, café & kitchen collectibles store.  Dominic looks forward to bringing his creativity, enthusiasm and passion for food to the Publick House.

The Publick House was established on the Sturbridge Common in 1771 by Colonel Ebenezer Crafts, who led the local militia against the British at the Battle of Lexington and Concord when the Revolutionary War began.  A continuing program of preservation and renovation now means that the Publick House preserves its original 18th century charm while offering 21st century conveniences.  www.publickhouse.com
