Recreation & Entertainment

The Publick House Historic Inn and Country Motor Lodge are nestled on 60-acres of beautiful countryside in the heart of New England.  Each season presents an array of opportunities for recreational activity that will appeal to your meeting group.  Our staff knows the area well and can recommend just the right free-time activity for your group or their spouses and families.

  • Golf at one of the nearby public courses.

  • Hiking, jogging, tennis, swimming and cross-country skiing are just outside your door on our sprawling grounds.  Sim's Health and Racquet, a public health club, is located nearby and Publick House guests receive 20% off the daily guest fee.

  • If time allows, venture a mile down the road, and travel back in time to New England Past, at Old Sturbridge Village.

  • Explore the vast array of antique, clothing and gift shops throughout our town.

  • Attend a performance at the Stageloft Theater

In addition to those things readily available in the area, we can also provide recreational experiences for your meeting group.  Just a short distance away, attractions such as the EcoTarium, Basketball Hall of Fame and Worcester Common Outlets are just a few of the activities that are all yours for the asking.

A truly unique evening event to consider for your group is a sumptuous meal in the historic setting of Old Sturbridge Village.  Imagine your group greeted by an interpreter in early 19th-century costume, then traveling by horse-drawn vehicle through the past in this world- renowned recreated village.  Upon arrival at the Bullard Tavern on the Village Common, an exquisite meal of traditional favorites will be the fare of the evening.  Entertainment from the past can be provided.
